The uses and applications of ZnO are numerous. Also, the zinc oxide is a product that benefits the production of multiple materials in various sectors.
Recently researchers at the NJIT (USA New Jersey Technology Institute) and the CSIR-CECRI (Institute of Industrial Scientifics Investigation Central - Central Research Institute Electrochemical, Tamil Nadu, India) have produced a new type of solar cells sensitized with dye (DSSC) based on zinc-Graphene (ZnO-G) compounds, which have a similar scale morphologic.
The approach of polymer used for the synthesis of composite material can be expected for future solar cells flexible, transparent and low cost that is install n on surfaces that include windows, roofs and other applications in the near future.
The zinc oxide (ZnO) is a multi-functional semiconductor material that can be manufactured at low temperatures. The width of band energy, resistance to radiation, high chemical stability and high energy of excitation make that ZnO has a great potential in applications that involve sensors, LEDs (LED), devices piece electrics, cells solar, the beings of short wavelength and transistors.
In addition, ZnO offers properties electric and superior optical including a high mobility of electrons in the order of 1500 cm2V-1s-1 at room temperature, an energy of 3.3 broadband eV and a high energy of excitons (electron holes) of union 60 MeV.
